Site Policies

Some guidelines most people won't bother to check out

Introduction

On this page I'd like to take some time to express my opinion about a few things that tend to happen on the Internet all too frequently. I'd like to also share with you a bit about what I like to see and hate to see on my page.

Anonymity

Everyone is free to come by this website and visit or participate as they wish. I would hope that everyone is confident enough to participate as themselves whenever possible. Meaning - there's no reason to make up a pseudonymn or go around pretending to be something you are not. This is an open community and anonymous posts that attack others are a frustration and huge headache for regular visitors.

Whenever possible, please post as yourself with a suitable and positive identification.

Expletives and Vulgarity

I believe most of you are mature individuals. This means that I assume the bulk of us can take a curse word here and there. But there is never a need to sprinkle expletives all throughout a post with reckless abandon.. or even in a mainstream piece you write. I have a "content filter" in place that will remove popular curse words from bark board posts. That's because it's a joke.

As far as vulgarity goes. I will again assume we are all mature individuals reading the material on this page. That said, however, there is absolutely no reason to create vulgar scenes, retell vulgar stories, or make inappropriate jokes about general things or other people. Please be considerate of us all and keep your running mouth to a minimum, dashing us with such material only as necessary.

(Which is in no way to say that curse words or "vulgar" stories are totally banned. I am just stressing the need for everyone to exercise discretion.)

Rude/Accusational/Nasty Posts

I shouldn't really have to go into detail here, so I'll try my best not to. If you are coming to the site to post rude, nasty, or accusational material directed at others, I will be very displeased. The interactive portions of this site are there for entertainment, not bashing others. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Lurking

My final pet peeve is when people come and visit the site but never participate. You need to get involved! Post on the bark board to let us know you're around or send me an email telling me how you enjoyed or hated the fatDOG experience. Trust me - it'll make me feel much better than if you remain quiet and simply visit for reading.

Not that simply reading material is frowned upon. I love the visits, anyway!
